Methyldiphenylamine is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid, stimulating odour, easy oxidation of sunshine in the air or make the color darker.
High toxic. Inhale the steam or absorbed through the skin to cause poisoning. The toxicity and aniline are roughly the same. Is the blood poison, nerve toxicity and carcinogenicity. 5 x 10-6 maximum allowable concentration in the air. Avoid contact with skin. The site should have good ventilation operation and equipment should be closed. Operating personnel should wear protective gear.
Main use: used as a dye intermediates, for making vanillin, azo dye, triphenyl methane dye, and as a solvent and stabilizer, analytical reagent, etc.
